More Pictures

I decided that I wanted to make special birth announcements for my students, so we took more pictures.

Here is a picture of Addy with at little half smile. We're not sure if it's gas or a real smile. Either way, we think she's pretty cute.

Here is one of the pictures of the two of us that we didn't use. Adelaide wasn't fully awake and would have rather been sleeping.

Here is another family self portrait. It took a few tries to get us all in the picture, and clearly Addy was over getting her picture taken.

Amanda's 35th Birthday, Addy's 1 Week

Today is my 35th birthday and I got the best birthday gift a week early. The second best gift I received was the Kindle Grandma Nan gave me, which is the greatest nursing tool around. I get to hold the Kindle and read without disturbing Addy.
Here is our little angel on my birthday.

We would like to keep track of how much Adelaide is growing. We decided that each week we would dress her in the same top to take a picture of her in the same position. Here is her first week's picture.
The onsie is very big for her, but we expect it to be too tight by the end of 9 months.

Grandma Nan's Birthday

Today was Grandma Nan's birthday. We had a wonderful day. Grandma Nan and I got all dressed up and went out to a fancy lunch with Adelaide, who slept in her car seat the entire time. After lunch we went to see the movie The Kids are All Right, and Addy spent most of her time eating during the movie.
After the movies, Vik, Amaya and Kanoa came over to spend some time with Grandma Nan before she had to leave for the airport. We are hoping that Grandma Nan will come back and visit soon.

A Busy Day

Today we ran some errands and went visiting.

Here is Adelaide sleeping in her car seat while we drove all over town to get things done.

We stopped by to meet Papa Scott while we were out.

When we got home Mama Rox wanted to see how her new Moby wrap worked. Adelaide seems pretty comfortable in it.

Mama Rox likes wearing Addy around.

Aunty TJ came by to visit us and to play with Addy's little piggies.

Addy likes to suck on Mama Rox's finger or thumb to settle down.

Mama Rox and Adelaide were so tired from all of the running around that they needed to take a little nap.

Photo Shoot

Aunty Viki and Amaya came over the next day. We decided that we needed to take pictures of Adelaide so that we could make our birth announcements.

Here is Amaya holding Addy.
Although she is a little crossed-eyed in this picture, I think she looks pretty cute. You can see the red spot in her left eye, which probably happened during the whole birth trauma. The doctor said that it should clear up soon.
I like this pic of Addy on her tummy.

Here Adelaide is modeling the hat and blanket set that Grandma Sandy made for her. I love the way she looks happy and alert.

Adelaide is trying to find her thumb. She doesn't know that it is attached to her yet, and sometimes when she finds her thumb, she accidently pulls it out of her mouth.

Coming Home

The day after we got home, Grandma Nan gave Addy a bath in the kitchen sink.

Grandma Nan is a pro and bathing babies and Adelaide enjoyed the experience.

Later that afternoon, Uncle Brett came over to meet Adelaide.

Later in the day

After getting a little sleep, we are able to start enjoying our new bundle of joy.

Mama Rox wants to hold Addy all the time. She wants to so everything and since she can't nurse, she insists on doing everything else.

Here Addy and I are enjoying some skin-to-skin time between feedings.

Adelaide Miyoko Mailloux is Born!

At 1:20 am Adelaide was delivered via emergency c-section. She weighed 7 lb. 3.9 oz. and was 20 1/2 in. long. Despite meconium in the amniotic fluid, Adelaide was healthy with strong lungs.
Here is a picture of Adelaide being cleaned up just after her birth.

After a short 20 minute visit to the NICU with Mama Rox, Adelaide and I went to the recovery room where we took our first family self portrait.

Once the drugs wore off a little, I stopped shaking and I could finally hold my baby. I couldn't wait to feed her for the first time. She latched on and did a great job eating.

After a little snack, it was time for Addy to get cleaned up. Here is Adelaide taking her first bath.

Adelaide needed a short nap after her first bath and all the excitement of her birth.
