Coming Home

The day after we got home, Grandma Nan gave Addy a bath in the kitchen sink.

Grandma Nan is a pro and bathing babies and Adelaide enjoyed the experience.

Later that afternoon, Uncle Brett came over to meet Adelaide.

Later in the day

After getting a little sleep, we are able to start enjoying our new bundle of joy.

Mama Rox wants to hold Addy all the time. She wants to so everything and since she can't nurse, she insists on doing everything else.

Here Addy and I are enjoying some skin-to-skin time between feedings.

Adelaide Miyoko Mailloux is Born!

At 1:20 am Adelaide was delivered via emergency c-section. She weighed 7 lb. 3.9 oz. and was 20 1/2 in. long. Despite meconium in the amniotic fluid, Adelaide was healthy with strong lungs.
Here is a picture of Adelaide being cleaned up just after her birth.

After a short 20 minute visit to the NICU with Mama Rox, Adelaide and I went to the recovery room where we took our first family self portrait.

Once the drugs wore off a little, I stopped shaking and I could finally hold my baby. I couldn't wait to feed her for the first time. She latched on and did a great job eating.

After a little snack, it was time for Addy to get cleaned up. Here is Adelaide taking her first bath.

Adelaide needed a short nap after her first bath and all the excitement of her birth.

32 Week Ultrasound

We had another ultrasound to make sure that the baby is developing normally and getting bigger. Based on the measurements, Zuki is 4 lbs. and 5 oz., at this rate by week 40 I am looking at delivering an 8 lb. baby. She is currently between the 50th and 75th percentile for her size.
This is the typical ultrasound picture that is kind of hard to see. The doctor says that this is a profile of the baby with her mouth wide open.
Here is a 3-D ultrasound picture of our daughter, I think she might have my nose.
Here is Zuki sucking on her hand.
And this is my favorite 3-D ultrasound picture where she looks like she is blowing us a kiss. She is probably just sucking, but she looks very cute. I can't wait to meet her.

Surprise Baby Shower

My family successfully surprised me with a baby shower. I knew that I would have a baby shower for my friends and family, but I had no idea when it would happen and who would be there. My mother came to town from Maine to surprise me, after just getting back to the states from the Netherlands. Here is a picture of all of the presents we received. Roxanne actually helped me to open them.

My mother and sister, Elizabeth, made this beautiful panda quilt. I can't express how much I love this quilt, it will be treasured forever.

Here is a picture of everyone watching us open presents.
Another view of the room full of people watching us unwrap gifts.

Here is a picture of me and my moms. From left to right: my mother-in-law, Miss Sandy; my mom, Nancy; me; and my godmother, Aunty Claire. It was so wonderful to have them all together celebrating our little Zuki.

Baby Shower #1

Roxanne had our first baby shower today. The moms from my classroom threw us a baby shower at the Koressel's house. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was so generous and everyone had good advise about giving birth and raising babies. Here is a profile picture of me. I am really starting to show.
Here is a picture of me talking to some of the moms at the baby shower.

Patty Tucker made this beautiful cake for the party. Not only was it nice to look at but it was very yummy, too.

Here is a picture of me as I am about to start opening all of the wonderful presents we got. Roxanne had the job of writing down all of the gifts. She said she needed a job to keep her busy.
